Introducing the Square Enix Security Token (03/10/2009)

As a result of growing account security concerns within the online gaming community, Square Enix is proud to introduce the Square Enix Security Token. The token greatly increases the security of PlayOnline accounts by allowing users to log on by using a constantly changing one-time password that is displayed on the screen. The Square Enix Security Token will be available for purchase through the PlayOnline Viewer in the near future for those who wish to take advantage of the added security this optional service provides. As a special incentive, each Square Enix Security Token will come with an exciting in-game bonus which may just prove indispensible during your many adventures in Vana'diel!

Information on the Security Token's release date and price, as well as further details regarding the in-game bonus, will be announced at a later date.

If it's not too much it might be worth it, though not sure why we have to pay extra for a security feature... shouldn't that be included in what we pay for already?

Edit: Ok the Security Token is an actually thing, I thought it was just a name for a new kind of security feature that you just downloaded from POL, it looks like a keychain thingy

It's a keychain. but i wonder how it work between share account to other? if you have to use this thing to unlock your account?

You link it up to your account (probably with an access code) and when u want to log in u press the button and a 6 digit number is displayed on screen that is your password. You have about 1 min to log in with that code before it is rendered useless. The code is different every time and runs on a system without patterns so you can never predict what the code will be when u press the button. This stuff is used by big business and government agencies to protect shit more important that their POL accounts.

Idk, i will consider it depending on price... Knowing SE, this'll ring up at $80+ and be a marketing scheme to prey on the paranoid

wow i just thought about it. SE did this to block RMT for stolen account, we know this. but why add item the 80+ space for all char and accounts? it may be to make player have to buy this for SE to earn profit? but there is one catch...when almost all player bought this, then its hard for real player to sell account that required player to send token to buyer.....

Yes the Mog Satchel matches your inv space, so we'll all start out with extra 70 inv until the new quests come out. And mules will have +30 inv, unless you did some gobbiebag quests on them

1st thing I'm doing is perm gearing up WAR & BRD, finding extra meds, warp items...ah crap, I'm full again XD

$9.99 *includes* shipping/tax? Crazy, so this is not more expensive than WoW's which is $7.50, and we get a free in-game item that is HUGELY helpful in all ways <3

Well was able to register a Square-Enix ID, but thanks to the fact you can only order the security token on POL and that was congested like crazy I couldn't get one :roll:

I had (and predicted) the same problem. I remember I couldn't even register my WotG codes the day of or after it came out. And those were just typing in a few numbers, wow.

As for the security token, they only let "some" people be connected to member info/order page, my guess is only 40 ppl at once can connect to POL services ._.;

Finally at about ~3pm EST after clicking a few times, I was able to order. Thankfully they ask you to fill out shipping form, which is good because I know alot of ppl don't have the same address anymore after 5 years XD

Holy shit..... I almost post "Taking a break?"....

Here's why. about token, i had go playonline.com for sqaureenix account. so i did made one, then link with 4 accounts of mine.

So i tried log on my enterprisemmx account and got info about wrong password etc. I thought it was about token one time password thing. I went back to sqaureenix account website, i cancel account, so i can deal with it later. But no......

Because I didn't know about add "SE account" and "SE account password" on PoL member setting.

I couldn't log in my account. I went back and reactive my account. I read Q A's thing. it said "once you cancel account. it cannot reactive" it scare me to hell.....

I still cant logged in my 4 account, cause Q A's also state that "Once you link Playonline ID, it cannot be unlink"

I tried service support live chat. i waited for 2 hours..... So i used Video Phone (video chat for deaf, you hook up with t.v.).

I success get in touch with SE service support, took me 25 mins to give info, explain about this. SE restore my Sqaureenix account back. whew, I can log in my 4 accounts ^^

Crazy shit.... really. I was scare and thought "this is it, No more FFXi for me!?" wandering all over my home for 3 hours......

EDIT: Oh BTW the moment i logged in and ordered Token, no problem at all, no "error" or whatever accord to BG forum. It's on the way ^^ +80 spaces (Yes please)
